The Nutcracker & the Mouse King LIVE Rehearsed Reading
The Bistro
18:30 – 21:00
Our Armidale Radio Theatre Society program is back with their annual Christmas broadcast for 2025…with a twist!
This year, for our Christmas special, we’ll be exploring the E.T.A. Hoffman Christmas Classic, The Nutcracker & the Mouse King, in front of a live audience.
Date: Friday 19th of December
Time: 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Location: The Bistro
Cost: FREE
Who: Everyone
We’ll also be having specialty cocktails and hot chocolate on tap to get you in the festive mood.
In recent years, the TuneFM Christmas broadcast has been a staple of our festive calendar. We’ve explored classic Christmas poetry, Twas the Night Before Christmas, and more recently, A Christmas Carol.
This year, we’re taking a look at a lesser-known story, The Nutcracker & the Mouse King. Popularised by the Tchaikovsky ballet of a similar name, this story talks of love, war, and childlike imagination. But it isn’t all peaches and sugarplums; this heartwarming Christmas tale isn’t afraid to pull its punches, depicting some darker scenes, akin to the stories of the Brothers Grimm.
Overall, it’s a well-rounded story suitable for adults, young adults, and teenagers, with parental guidance advised for any younger audiences.
We hope you can join us for this night of theatrical fun and heartwarming festivity.
